KAREN'S SPRING HOUSEHOLD TIPS
WELCOME TO SPRING!
I love April. It’s when you begin to put the cold winter behind and you start looking forward to warmer days that can be spent relaxing on your deck or patio. In order to do this, you need to do a few things to prepare and clean up from the neglect that winter usually brings.
It is time to clean the outside of your home! If you have vinyl siding, it might need a good wash by using a pressure washer. You could also lightly wash your patio or deck. If you do not own a pressure washer, you can probably rent one from a near by hardware store.
Using a mixture of ¾ cup bleach and 1 tbsp. laundry detergent with 1 gallon of water can really brighten your outdoor furniture.
When you clean your umbrella, you do not want to strip it of the water resistant coating. I suggest using a mixture of water and dish washing detergent.
To clean birdbaths and water fountains I would use 1 part bleach to 10 parts water
When your grill is a little warm, not hot, you should use a wire brush to get old food and grease off. You can also soak the grate in soapy water. I have heard that if you rub half an onion on the grates before and after you grill, it will help keep your grill clean. Let me know, if it works!
Last of all, there are some flowering bulbs that you can plant in the spring. I am sure that your favorite nursery can tell you which ones might grow the best in your yard. My favorites are Dalias and Gladiolus!
